Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris (born October 20 1964) was an American lawyer, politician, and the current vice president of United States. She is both the first female vice-president and the highest-ranking female official of the United States. She is a member of the Democratic Party and was previously the attorney general of California between 2011 and 2017. Additionally she served as an United States senator representing California between 2017 and 2021. Born in Oakland, California, Harris graduated from Howard University and the University of California, Hastings College of the Law. Harris started her career in the Alameda County District Attorney's Office prior to her move to the San Francisco District Attorney's Office and later the City Attorney of San Francisco's office. In 2003 she was elected district attorney of San Francisco. She was elected Attorney general of California in the year 2010. In 2014, she was elected to a second term. Harris was the United States junior senator from California between 2017 and 2021. Harris defeated Loretta Sanchez to become the first African American woman senator and the first South Asian American ever to be elected to the United States Senate. Harris was a senator who fought for health care and federal de-scheduling of cannabis. A path towards citizenship for migrants who aren't legal. The DREAM Act bans assault weapons and progressive tax reform. Her most well-known accomplishments are her direct questions to Trump administration officials in Senate hearings.
