As of the year 2020, Ball is married to Jonathan Dariyanani. Ball is able to attribute her new fascination with politics due to her experience as pregnant during the 2008 primary elections and watching the outcome of the 2008 US presidential election while working in Jordan. She witnessed the impact that it had on the citizens of her home country and was moved to see the international influence of US politics. She was a Senior Fellow at the New Leaders Council. Ball was the Democratic Party's nominee for Congress in Virginia's 1st district in the year 2010. She was defeated by Rob Wittman, the Republican incumbent. She was co-host of the MSNBC program The Cycle from June 2012 to July 2015. In May of 2017, she launched the People's House Project, a political action committee that works for Democratic causes.
